Inescapable

Inescapable

A Poem by willweb

Why do I allow myself to do this,

day after day, wishing and waiting,

pacing in a confined space,

tripping on the surface of what I want,

falling head first into what I can not have

Scraped knees and elbows

locked at the joints,

bound by corrosion,

hidden beneath denim overlays,

heavy duty to conceal

bolted thoughts

chained to the wall

by my desires

These iron bars of your memory

surround me at all times

an inescapable cage around my heart -

and I can not find the key

nor do I want to

but why

Amazing insight and a great degree of understanding the past and what is left behind to deal with a daily basis.

This one sounded like something I would write...
emotions and life on lock down is no way to live, but its a great way to write.

I have found that out. Thank you so much Cory for this nice review today.
A amazing poem. I could feel the want, regret and honest thoughts. A perfect ending to the poem. I like the poetry that ends with a question. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I did and you are welcome.
I love the narrative progression of this piece will...it has the feel of a spoken-word piece and I think it would work splendidly well as one, but it remains undeniably poetic in the vividness of its imagery...I love the 'tripping' and 'falling' lines...boy do I relate to those sentiments...it drives me crazy that I devote so much of my mental energy to bemoaning the things I don't have, yet I go on bemoaning nonetheless...the ending is delivered perfectly, with that pause for dramatic effect...you always speak to me on the deepest level with your work my friend...great work as always.

...because love is the one thing we are willing to fight for! ...besides, there's always the possibility of hope. Much enjoyed this one, Will.

Hmm. I read and reviewed this, and apparently my review disappeared. Anyway, it is once again a beautiful write. I understand the wanting, the waiting, the needing, the not knowing. It is a cage.

Kayleigh, thank you so very much for commenting on my poem. I am thrilled you enjoyed it.
Hey Willweb, I can kinda relate to this...as if there's always a grey cloud nearby...but its kinda like you want it there. How is it that one learns from mistakes...but keeps up the same pattern. Interesting.
