One way traffic

One way traffic

A Poem by willweb

Lost in the gears

while shifting through life

Highways shave but a few moments,

leaving exits for the lucky ones

Reversed at those missed but

stuck in the never ending congestion

with speed limits ignored,

as is this feeling

traveling through my body

Making left turns in no passing zones,

pausing at intersections

texting at 70,

hoping to meet someone

by accident

Only to collide with reality

on the shoulder of a forgotten dream

Detours lead to him,

where your car is parked

from the night before

And the warning light

on my dusty dashboard

reminds me that I am low on fuel,

as I coast down a dead end road

with no stop signs

Nice metaphor throughout, but I take this as dark and scary, and waiting to hit a tree or a wall ...

Thank you so very much Ana Sophia for your nice review. Gassed up and ready to go
Jump in the drivers seat and sail through the fast lane of metaphor, truck on brother.... truck on...

Thanks so much Cory.
Oh Will this was gorgeous, beyond gorgeous actually -- I literally loved every single word and the powerful imagery. My favourite of yours for sure.

Kayleigh, your nice words always are so wonderful to receive. Thank you so much.
Once again Willweb you've nailed it. I like the metaphor of people as cars and life as the highway, I love that part in the first stanza. You managed to use so many driving terminology effectively. Well enjoyed. :)
