Un-taught

Un-taught

A Poem by willweb

I wish I was smart,

knew the things that you wanted me too

Understood, recognized,

could recite words,

famous quotes, theories, ideas

If I had only read those poets,

studied those books -  but I didn’t

So, I am not - smart

I am stupid,

because I only know one thing,

that I love you

and that is dumb -

at least that is what you told me

I now know that -

See, I am learning

hehe........I really like that ending, it's a challenge to make something seem innocent and dark/subversive simultaneously, and I feel you've managed that here quite well with a touch of subtle.

I wish we didn't think I love you is dumb! haha. :)

Thank you so very much Frontier. I am happy you liked this little poem.
We all have our own definition of "smart". Often the greatest minds have very little or no common-sense, so they can't actually practically apply all that "knowledge" . I tend to think along the lines of that when we love, we love in entirety, not what we can "fix" or "change" about someone. The love you confess sounds pure, sincere and unconditional. The poem likewise. Its a beauty. Penny

Thank you so very much Penny. Your nice reveiw has given me hope today.
Omg...this just ripped my heart out, why is intelligence based on such things...the foolery is on them for not realising the strength of love! x

Thank you Poppy for your very nice words today. Not all of us are as smart as others want us to be.
Haha, you ARE pretty smart. I love the ending. :)

Oh Will, you are in no way dumb. This poem hurt me to read... I do hope you're okay, you're not dumb though, don't say that or I will join Ana in kicking your arse. :))

your wry humor makes a sharp point again .. love the title .. its double entendre of unlearning so that we can "really" learn .. a loss of ego .. then slam bam thank you mamm .. job done .. lesson learned :) nice one .. enjoyed the read

These poems remind me so much of how I sound on my down days, which hurts because I'd never wish my down days on anyone, at least not my friends, and you are one...a good one...I'm not good at moral support but I can assure you that you sell yourself short...a stupid person is incapable of writing as you do, and your readership, which is much larger than mine, attests to that...great work here will, I hope you're able to find happiness and peace of mind as soon as possible.
