People areA Poem by willwebInspired by a conversation with KLGoodeYou say you are you, but you are them riding on this south side train, hiding behind the headlines of last week's paper, shifting eyes, watching my every move Until we pass through that tunnel, lights out, can’t see your hand before your faces Seats change, places rearrange and you are you - or are you them Slipping into the dining car, you are there, that is you, right - squeezing mustard on your sausage, sticking out like a sore thumb, slouching in their chair - hiding? Shaking my head, I take another sip of tea Pop in my ear buds and funny - “People are strange” is playing I think to myself, “I agree Jim” And the strangest thing of all - I don’t even know this guy © 2014 willwebAuthor's Note
