A mess of meaningless messages

I sit here waiting, staring at

an electronic screen filled with

messages of special offers,

cheap air fare on last minute flights,

new flashes, quotes of the day,

Brookstone, Home Depot,

someone in a foreign country who

needs my help/money and will make me a

millionaire if I send it to them

Political garbage sent by

those who feel it will do some good

Do I know what my credit score is?

Who gives a crap?

Mortgage rates, car loans,

homeowners insurance,

Hot deals, cool deals, sweet deals,

Deals, deals, deals - deal this

 

A mess of meaningless messages,

blink and a new one has arrived,

sneeze and two or three more are waiting,

messages, worthless messages, unending messages

messages about nothing, a big pile of empty nothing

 

Unless they are messages from you -

and for those I am still waiting

Oh and don't we just get so much junk ?! One of my friends told me recently that my emails always go to their junk mail folder as it's an unusual email addy lol. The poem speaks of hope and futility. But I don't think either has a time limit. On the flip side, I stopped emailing with my ex, initially because he was with someone new and sneaking behind her back to chat with me which is not okay, but also because I realised it was going nowhere. He wanted to be "friends" again and tried reconnecting, but I just couldn't see past the hurt he caused me, which is never a basis for "friends" ! So the point I am trying to make, but blabbing on a bit, is what you might expect the other to say? Even if they want you back, I certainly would never have come out with it. I was trying to suss out his true intentions. And so we played charades. Just pointless. But I am really getting into your writing. it's real and deep. Penny (sorry its a bit long)
