Spit shine

Spit shine

A Poem by willweb

When is enough, enough?

When the bag breaks,

spilling its contents all over your

freshly cleaned pristine kitchen floor,

or does it just appear to be clean?

Paper towel wipe up,

maybe a quick mopping,

some pre-packaged liquid glow,

a strategically placed rug

that matches the curtains…sort of

Presentation of a shiny surface

for the book club, the poker gang

that is still covered with germs,

invisible dog prints, lost peas and carrots,

used dental floss along the floorboard

But still that helpless bag is filled beyond the brim,

10, 15, 20 pounds in a 5 pounder

More than it can hold, splitting at the seams

Until…well there it is, strewn in all directions,

listening to the cussing and complaining

thinking to itself…enough already

This is an interesting poem, and an interesting way to ask when enough is enough.

Would love to see a story inspired by this poem?

Can''t wait. xD
Sounds like all of trash cans over flowing because my child can't handle the one task that I gave her to do at our home....well done.

I guess we all have to wonder when enough is enough. When has life thrown everything that it can at us when do we get to say "enough".Really thought provoking pen Will :)

Enough already! Love that ending.
and this verse is my favorite:
Paper towel wipe up,
maybe a quick mopping,
some pre-packaged liquid glow,
a strategically placed rug
that matches the curtains…sort of
I had to laugh when I read this verse as it is something I can relate to.

We can tear ourselves apart in pursuit of perfection. I think Betty Friedan would laud this one, as do I. Great, great write.

Indeed, when is full too full, enough, enough? -- this can apply to garbage bags and arguments, to toilets and husbands -- very universal appeal.:)

Thanks so much Ance.
Oh damn, this is raw and powerful and you make such a good point. Sometimes, fighting back isn't the answer and letting go is the best thing to do. I really loved the wording of this one, Will.

Enjoyed muchly!
