Speed Trap

I wrote “I love you”

in the dust on a hood

of a fast moving

car today

 

At highway speeds

it was hard to read

Kind of a blur,

but you knew what it said

 

I just wish I had known,

it was a no passing zone

I think this is one of your best.
Also, I can definitely relate to this. When you miss those small, yet important, signs in a relationship, and there is a major collision. Nice analogy.
This poem is short and wonderful. Everything crashes into the reader at the end, the same thing that probably happened to the car.
