Fading away

Fading away

A Poem by willweb

There on a sleeping shorline

of uncounted sand and remnants of childhood castles

rested a single shell, its beauty beckoned

Opalescent glimmers

reflecting on discarded beer tabs

linked only by the memories they produced

Picking it up, it feels as smooth

as your skin on that hot summer day

when I last held you

Placing it to my ear

I can hear the rythym of a long forgotten song,

sung in distant melodies

A perfect tempo,

like that of your pulse felt in that final kiss,

just before you walked away

I can still see those footprints,

as I realize this sound not heard since that day

is the echo of my heart beat, fading away

This is a gorgeous verse, romantic and heartbreaking and longing. Sadness and memories often produce powerful poetry, and this is what this is.

Thank you again KLGoode for those nice comments. I am pleased you enjoyed this one.
The sea shore is a perfect place to loose what was once found. The everchanging beach surface will leave marks of memories, but in the end the tide will unapologetically erase all tails the sand tells.
