Half full

Half full

A Poem by willweb

A broken glass
half empty becomes filled
with hopeless hope

Splinters always fly
and shards rest in the carpet
shrinking in the spilled words

Falling from the bleeding lips
of those who consume
the jagged phrases in belief

Raising their glass
with red rims dripping
to those they call friend

nice use of the oxymoron in the first verse...we kid ourselves, spill our words, and think all of those who raise their glasses will identify with us...and that they are all our friend...but then, there are really splinters hiding and there are many half-empty glasses, but in our delusion we believe in and hope for the good in people.
