Grease and giltterA Poem by Ms.Winchester"You look pretty today." Shut the hell up, I think as we stare at each other. You, seeming to read my thoughts, say "Your hair isn't that curly mess you always complain about." I shrug and sip coffee because, of course, my hair isn't a curly mess. It was straighten for a party last night. "Your skin is practically glowing." You continue, trying to get a reaction from me. But we both know it's grease from my makeup remover. Still, you keep trying. And you win...sort of. "You've painted your nails, they look nice." Taking the cup of coffee away from my face and setting it down on the green metal outside table. I just answer you silently with a smirk In an instant you know it's part of a secret that we promised not to mention again after the last incident of TMI You keep going though, smiling with a determined look in your eye. "Well you sparkle in the morning light." "My f*****g makeup remover couldn't get all the damn glitter eyeliner off." "You own glitter eyeliner and wear it?" Now you look shocked and I have to fight back a smile. "You don't?" You shake your head, bringing your own cup of coffee to drink. After so many years of being friends, I love that it's still the small things about each other that surprise us. Like how glitter eyeliner shocks you more than weird sex and being hung over on Wednesday. © 2017 Ms.WinchesterAuthor's Note
