Inhale / Exhale

Inhale / Exhale

A Poem by Willis Walker
"

A piece I wrote for helping a loved one through situations that were completely out of my control.

"

Inhale briefly.

I want to make a cave in your distress and shelter you there through the storm.

We’ll build a fire.

I’ll hold you close and feel every thought running through the nerves in your skin.

I’ll be your stone.

Rope of intertwined faith wrapped around my glistening grooves as you scale the cliffs.

Out of our hands

And left with those across untraversable seas, too distant to see their own ripples.

One life begins

As another ends. I don’t need protections from the cruel mistress, if she could see me now.

Undeniably

It’s hard to breathe.

Evidently

I’m lost beneath.

A Soliloquy

Of drying tears.

Transcendency

For you and me.

This remains a burden I need not trouble myself with, yet its overcasting shadow is heavier than any I have carried alone.

And I cannot take this burden

But I can take you

Away from here

Far away

For a heartbeat

For a glitch in time

We will elapse and return

In one motion

When you are ready to exhale.

Willis,
this piece has moved me. A poem full of promises coming from a heart that embraces the loved one at their hour of need. yours is a shoulder anyone would be happy to relay on. words have strong power. use them to keep your loved one hoping to breathe freely and without pain.

You have some very strong statements in your poem "A Soliloquy Of drying tears." being my favorite. The sentence structure is unconventional, but as a whole it has both an emotional and philosophical depth. As a student of live I hope you continue your poetic journey, you seem to have an eye and understanding of words. Thank you for sharing your work.

There are certain things that are not in our control, but we can breathe - inhale, exhale and do our best to get through the situation. Your imagery is lovely.

Welcome to WC. I look forward to reading more of your poetry.
