The birds

The birds

A Poem by William Coad

But its not like I stood

on the tip of my tongue,

and waited for these words

to play me for fun.

And its not like it took you

more than one hour

to ascend to the pinnacle

of my Kinsian tower.

So it's not that we were

squirrels to each others bird

and it's not like we were

carried by giant birds.

But the flock

flew south

for the Winter.

Yes the birds

flew north

in the Summer.

Yet it looks like

I might

give you just

an hour more.

If that might

make you like

me more and

somehow more.

The towers are leaning

but look to the West.

The birds are all keening

but surely you jest.

But the flock

stayed here

in Autumn.

Yes the birds

stayed here

in spring.

It's the damnedest thing.

I loved the feeling your work gave me, and the emotion it exudes. There were a couple times it felt a little repetitive, but this is over all a good poem with a pretty strong foundation.
