Into the Night

Into the Night

A Poem by William Coad

Go off in to the night

my friend.

At long last your journey's reached

its end.

How this cruel world must have

lost its sting.

How this cruel world no longer bites

and that's the thing.

One last beautiful moment of life.

Just a moment to know that everything's

gonna be alright - oh

I'm really

really gonna miss you.

I wish I could've held

tighter though.

The stars lost their sky

tonight.

And now nothing's ever gonna be

quite right.

How I wish the darkness

was warm.

But I know first hand

so now I'm torn.

To follow you into the night.

Together eclipse the sun -

everything will be alright - oh.

How I wish I could've held on tight.

Like you...

The brightest days you slept

and in blackest night you were there.

In this sad world

my one companion -

whistle, I'd be there.

I watch you off into the night.

Extinguishing what's left of that light.

I'l send you off into the night.

Will things ever be alright?
