Undisturbed

Undisturbed

A Poem by William Coad

Come to me lover,

that we may share,

an evening together,

without a care.

I know that I've said

some cruel things,

but you know and I know

you give my mind wings.

I cannot take off without you-

I dare not even try.

You say so many wonderful things,

but don't give me a way to fly.

I wish you were nothing,

but a little box on my shelf-

one that I could pick up

and use whenever to please myself...

But you aren't that

and never that

and never ever was it

what you were.

And you aren't there

and even where

I left you lies

undisturbed.

So please come to me my lover-

I wish to love you again.

I need another child to share with them, mother.

I need another song to sing.
