Creature of DarknessA Poem by William CoadA satirical poem about business. There’s a beast that lurks Through the night it preys On innocents And soulless slaves. It stalks the night, For night it is, If you hold on tight, I’ll tell you what it is.
It’s the beast of the night, It’s the tower of man, And its hungry, So very hungry.
This creature is, Not nine feet tall, It doesn’t have scales, Or claws at all. In fact I would say, It looks fairly meek, But this creature, Hasn’t been fed in a week.
It’s the beast of the night, It’s the tower of man, And its hungry, So very hungry.
The creature has a face, Or maybe more then one, It stands six feet tall, It fights with a gun. When the truth is told, And all of us see, Just look in the mirror, That’s where he’ll be.
It’s the beast of the night, It’s the tower of man, And its hungry, So very hungry.
You see the monster, It walks with a cane, It wears a three piece suit, It even has a name. But don’t be fooled by this clever disguise. The monster is lethal, Just gaze into his eyes!
It’s the beast of the night, It’s the tower of man, And its hungry, So very hungry.
Its chasing you now, Its hunting you now, It wants you now, It has you now, Just run, Can you run? This isn’t fun, Because you just didn’t see, That all this time, It was your boss you were running from!
You may run and you may hide, You may fight to stay alive, But you can’t even try to escape, The beast holding his briefcase.
