In the Morning

In the Morning

A Poem by William Coad

Sky blue is the colour

I wear

when I'm sad.

When I don't want to get up in the morning.

Lime green is the colour

I wear

when I'm glad.

When another good day is a sure thing.

Bright red is the colour

I wear

to help me

work out the aggression I'm hording.

Purple is the colour

I wear

when I need

someone to hold in the morning.

But all the colours

I ever wear

just serve to tell me

that you aren't there.

It's going to kill me,

that's one thing I'm sure.

No- please don't come near me!

I'm begging you sir!

'cause

black is the colour

I always wear

when I get myself up in the morning.

Yes

black is the colour

'cause you weren't there

when I

got up

in the morning.
