Confusion and DismayA Chapter by WilliamClarkChapter Two
Out of my perifreal vision, I spotted a silhouette in the distance. I slowly raised my bulky rifle as a started to focus on the figure, matching up the two iron sights. Suddenly, the fence post exploded in front of me, showering us in splinters. "I can't see" shouted someone next to me. Shots rang out simultaneously as we returned fire. I unclipped a grenade from my utility belt. I unhinged the pin and tossed it as far as I could. I put my head down and instinctively counted to four "one one thousand-two two thousand-three three thousand-four four thou- BOOM" I looked up and saw even more of them than before. "contact right" our commanding officer shouted. We came under suppressive fire from the right flank, I hugged the wall as tight as I could while occasionally returning fire. I started to return fire, to figures I couldn't quite make out in the distance. With my last round that I fired, the cartridge popped out with a distinctive KA-CHING sound.
