Flower of Scotland

Flower of Scotland

A Poem by Willem Gray
"

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever see the beautiful land of my forefathers, and whether times will not have changed the values and traditions I grew up longing for.

"
Flower of Scotland

Will this Gray ever see yer like?
How will you receive me?
A deserter of old.
Will times have changed thee?
Yer hearths gone cold.

I still feel yer chill though
in the heat of the day,
and feel a deep longing
for the pride of a Scot.
The pride of a Gray.

I know I am broken.
So is my song,
But in these long nights
I'll sing along
to the tune of my homeland.

Where I hope the Thistle
still stands strong.

A robin, sing! and scattered my anxiety.
I listen to the voice in your voice
that we whisper in the inner ear.
