Day 12

Day 12

Day 12

So some things happened.

I did my interview and, while I thought it went well, they decided that I was not suitable for the honour of working there, c***s.

Luckily I was on vacation in Plettenberg Bay. Like many other matric students at the time, I decided to drink and smoke away all of my problems, and it worked! Now I very seldom think of the way I was completely crushed by a soulless company who have employees with absolutely no sense of humour. The young graduates who are busy with their articles reminded me of those college kids in American movies, shallowness and fake smiles were the order of the day it seemed, and while I could pretend, like any other person being interviewed, that I was the same as them, I don’t think I would be able to keep it up for three years.

Maybe God, Zeus and a few other deities, were trying to tell me something when they decided that the news I received would be crushing. I am not meant to become a businessman. What I kept thinking before, and after the whole ordeal, was that I wish I could be in a field where you could focus on helping people and improving yourself, rather than stepping on them to get more cash. I want to enter a field that relies on my strengths, and not my weaknesses.

As I have told you I am not competitive, therefore business is out of the question, but I like the concept of business. I am no scientist, biologist, dentist or doctor. To be honest I knew what I wanted to be before I glimpsed the world of business. Now I am surer than ever. I have to be a teacher.

It’s perfect. I can learn about business until I am sick of it, and then teach those personality lacking sons of businessmen how to be something other than a******s, in the savage slaughterhouse that is the corporate world.

Other than that little realisation my vacation was very enjoyable. I feel revitalized and ready for whatever the new year holds in store. My first year of university.

It promises to be very interesting.
