Showers and Reflections

Showers and Reflections

A Poem by Savior of Time

As the water poured over me,
I lifted my head up to greet it.
Opening my crystal eyes,
I left myself follow a droplet.
It slowly made its way down,
Further and further, on my naked chest.
The droplet glided across my ribs,
And quickly raced down my abdomen.
As it reached my thighs,
I held my breath.
It danced across the scars,
The white and pinks beasts,
The divided my leg into pieces.
If it had the power to,
The droplet may have done the same,
Across my other battlefield of a thigh.
One of the creatures triggered a memory,
About my little sister.
She had asked me,
"Melanie, where'd you get that?"
She pointed to the wide scar,
Because the white stuck out,
In a sea of light peach.
I had made up so many lies,
Just about that one wound.
I don't remember,
What I had told my little sister.
As I turned off the rain,
I began to think about the stories,
Never had I spoke the truth,
To any of those who cared.
Maybe it was so I would not,
Lose those closest to me.
I believed what I had thought,
Until I realized the truth.
I would not have lost any of them,
Because I was losing,
Had been losing,
And possibly could have lost myself.
