A Poem by Savior of Time

~Tribute to all of those who died in 9/11/2001~

"

Hey Mom,

How are you?

It's been twelve years

Since you left home.

I know you didn't

Want to leave us here,

All alone.

We were all really sad

When you left home.

Daddy cried for hours

And didn't stop

Until he fell asleep.

He still cries at night,

Because you're not home.

I know that you love us

And care about us.

You wouldn't leave

Unless you had to.

It was hard for a while

To live at home

Without you.

The house would be quiet,

And then burst Into fits of rage

By Daddy.

I would lock myself up

In my little room.

If Daddy scared me

More than usual,

I would cry

And wish you were home.

Sometimes I ask

Why you had to leave.

I would feel selfish,

Because I'd want

Someone else

To leave their home

Instead of you.

Then I would beg

For forgiveness from you.

You taught me

Not to be selfish,

And good things

Come to those

Who wait.

I would wait for you, Mom,

But you never came home.

I used to think

That you didn't love us

Anymore.

I was mad at you

For a really long time.

I honestly thought

You just left home

To get away from us.

I was too little

To understand.

Now that I've grown

To a young adult,

I know it wasn't your doing.

You never wanted to leave,

But you ended up

Having to.

Home

Is still quiet

Without you.

We

Still miss you,

Mommy.

I just wish

You could come home.

I wish

You would come back

From the grave.

We

Love you,

Mommy.

Please come home.

Please come home

I was really little when 9/11 happened, and I didn't lose anyone from it, nor do I know anyone that has. However, I feel deep sympathy for those who have.
When I started reading this, I wasn't a hundred percent sure what I was reading. I figured, "Oh, maybe the parents got divorced, or the mother left without a word of good-bye" But once I got to the end, I understood. This a very beautiful and powerful write Willa, and I greatly enjoyed reading it. Great job!

Willa, wow. I came not expecting anything like this, and then here it was. You should write more story poems, because you honestly rock at them. This is so sad but so strong at the same time, great job!
