Fatal Ways

Fatal Ways

A Poem by Savior of Time
"

I can't see..

"
I can't see,
I'm blinded by this light,
Is this is I will be,
By the end of the night?

I can't hear,
I'm deafened by this horrid sound,
Down my cheek is a tear,
Will I forever, by this, be bound?

I can't speak,
I've lost my raspy voice,
May no one seek,
This treaturous poise?

I can't feel,
I've already become numb,
Could this strange deal,
Seal my fate of what I have become?

I can't breathe,
I'm suffocated during each of my days,
Is this how I'll be seethe,
Will this be the end of my fatal ways?

I read this poem and sensed a real agony.

The rhyming seems effortless and graceful; that is not easy to achieve. I've written poetry for 60 years, and I steer clear of rhyming. You obviously have a flair for it. I admire that.

Is this poem describing depression or anxiety? The words describe the pain in a moving way, but I would be interested to know if this describes a ongoing period of profound depression or a moment of uncertainty and fear. Perhaps you intend that to be in the eye of the beholder. Certainly any human being could read these words and apply them to personal events.

I enjoyed thinking in an analytic way about this poem, and you, as a poet, can be proud to provoke that kind of thought.
