Chapter 5: Maw

Chapter 5: Maw

A Chapter by Starcaller

She runs ahead as the castle comes into view and beckons me to hurry up…but I can’t help fearing how long it will be until he finds me. I walk at the same pace towards her as she waits impatiently like a little kid. She claps her hands together and slightly skips as we draw closer, but my mind is everywhere and she can see it. I need to find Maw.

The guards push open the heavy metal doors for Eve and I as we approach and close them as we enter. She runs to her mother and embraces her warmly and I can’t help but smile even in my current state of worry. I bow before her and she stands

“I didn’t think I could trust you.” She says in a high and mighty tone

“but I was wrong.” She says in a more gentle way, but remaining almost emotionless.

I take out the contract and she signs it and hands it to one of her guards.

“Get me his pay.” After another moment a guard walks in with the gold I was promised and I take it thankfully, bowing before her once more.

“I have something to ask you Marko of house Keagan…would you be interested to work here as a palace guard?” I stand there somewhat stunned by her offer

“I am sorry milady. I have business elsewhere.” She looks somewhat disappointed

“That was to be expected my answer from you, but know that by saving my daughter you have found friendship with house Nivari.” I bow once more and turn to leave when the princess runs up embracing me.

“Bye Mark.” She whispers.

“Goodbye princes.” I whisper to her.

I slightly struggle from her grasp and walk away…I need to see Maw.

Maw stands up weakly and leans against the wall breathing deeply. The guard knocks on the metal door

“What do you want?”

“Visitor!” The guard shouts back letting the dark figure in. The man removes his hood “Marko.” He says in wonder

“Are you here to beat me up too?” Maw asks mockingly.

“Don’t tempt me.” He says angrily.

“Where is she?” He asks.

“Ah…I imagine you mean steel.” He says with a sly expression on his face.

“She’s around you know, pretty close in fact.” Marko slams him against the wall.

“Where is she?!” he laughs a little

“I told you I would tell you…if you did me the favor.”

Marko releases him and lets him sink to the floor

“Fine, but no games…we do this tonight.”

Maw smiles “Sounds like a plan.”

Your dialogue is getting much better! I can tell you are trying to get it more clean. There are a few little errors here and there, mostly with punctuation, but on the whole it is much better! Keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing how this story ends! :3
