Lost Cause

A Chapter by Starcaller
"

After the failure of the soul molding process Integra is lost in herself. While she is lost in herself the servivors of this assassin become aware of what she really is inside.

"

Out of her eye a tear falls as her crooked smile stretches across her face. She stands up looking over the bloodied room and licks the glass shard she used to kill her mother. Her hands quiver as she drops the shard and falls to the floor crying over her mother.Get up! It was like a whisper but she stood up unable to control herself. Her vision grows blurry as she stumbles around the room looking for clothes.

She takes a black suit with red diamonds on it and pulls it over herself, and then takes a red string pulling her hair back into a tight ponytail. Looking into the mirror she combs the small hairs back unable to focus on anything else. As she leaves the room she stops as her eyes wander to the east corridor. Her crooked smile returns as she reads "Armory".

She runs inside placing her hands gently over the bazooka lying on the weapon wrack. She takes it and straps it to her back with a leather belt she took from one of the guards. She then takes a box of assorted weaponry and a box of explosives from the cold metallic shelves. Her body begins to quiver and she falls to the floor what's happening to me? Stand up! She stands and grabs the packages only looking back once to make sure she wasn't being followed.

Back in the lab...

The director of the project awakens with his arm fractured in three places and holds it tightly to his chest as he tries to stand. His medical personnel had found him and saved him just in time from the glass shards that pierced his skin. He becomes aware of the situation and tries to get back to the lab. The personnel push him back into the chair.

"I'm sorry sir...most of the crew is dead"

His eyes widen a bit as he listens to her "There was some accident I think. There was shattered glass everywhere." She stops for a second taking a deep breath. "The girl you where working on...she escaped, and not only that but...but...she took some weapons."

His jaw drops as he pushes her out of the way heading for the armory.

He looks through the weaponry realizing what she took he put the compound on lockdown. The staff race around gathering reports on the damage and property stolen. His eyes somewhat bleak he looks around the room

"There is something I must tell you all before and if...she comes back." His voice grows slightly shaky as he gathers the room’s attention.

"That girl...has inside of her three generations of Viper training...we had used our top operatives for the experiment but we didn't take into account their mental conditions. So I must warn you..." he clears his throat looking around at the concerned faces.

"If you see her...all I can say...is you need to run. You may return home, but she is still out there." The crowd of employees around begins to panic, hushed whispers flowing through the crowd.

"Please stay calm though. If anyone finds out...we will be shut down...what we need to focus on is capturing her. That's all I wanted to say...please join us early tomorrow, so we can address these issues." As he walks around the room he can feel the woe and sorrow throughout the crowd.

Back in the Canadian Wilderness...

The girl huddles close to herself, her tears staining the red diamond pattern on her knees. Keep moving...must keep moving. "No..." she whispers to herself "No more..." a gentle flow of tears continuing to fall to her knees. She finds herself standing once again emptying the boxes and attaching the assortment of weaponry to her belt and back straps. Grenades, rockets, pistols, snipers, shotgun...perfect...perfect.

She continues to run through the thick woods her heart pounding out of her chest, her legs aching...but unable to stop...unable to think. The voices...mom...the voices are too much.
