Dragon Stone

Dragon Stone

A Story by Starcaller
"

A girl with a magic stone and her friend fights dragons to protect others...but sometimes it is more than they can handle

"

Syria opens her bright, fiery, yellow eyes to the bright, crisp morning overhead. She yawns showing off her white, jagged teeth that looked more like a row of knives, and stretches revealing her long, metallic wings. Her friend and freedom fighter Alicia gives her a look of concern.

"You're not supposed to wear it to sleep." she says pointing to the dragon stone around her neck.

"I know, I know" She says as she tucks the necklace back under her shirt. “Thanks mom but I think I'll be okay."

Alicia throws her a look of disappointment but is distracted by the screaming of a villager running towards them. Syria rips the dragon stone from her neck and her wings, teeth, and eyes return to their original form.

"Please, please help!!! The dragon!!!" Syria gives a look of shock thinking he had seen her, while Alicia tries to comfort the old man.

"Where is this Dragon?" Alicia asks concerned that he might have seen Syria as well.

He points to the hills in the east "There...it is over there...please if you see a little boy...he's my son. Bring him back will you?"

Alicia gives a sigh of relief "Of course. Don't worry, we will bring back your son...and deal with the dragon."

"Thank you! Thank you so much!" He says as he collapses into the field mumbling something to himself.

Alicia mounts her horse and Syria backs away into the forest slipping her dragon stone back around her neck. She whispers the spell of Dragon's and takes on the form of the brutish dragon of the eastern winds. Her wings stretching toward the sun and her bluish, metallic body lifts off the ground toward the eastern hills.

As she rises over the hill she sees it burning, an entire village, whole buildings engulfed in flames and bodies littering the ground turning to ash, screams tearing across the sky. She breaths in deeply and then out letting the icy winds of the east put out the fires scattered over the now desolate valley. As she attempts to stop the fires she roars as a large, black dragon sinks its claws into her back. She turns to face it but it grabs onto her neck with its jagged teeth forcing her to fall through the sky in pain and agony. Her dragon form fails and she returns to her mortal form.

Alicia watches as her friend falls through the air, and she rides faster and faster to catch her. She stops underneath her catching her before she hits the ground.

"Guess I owe you one...again." Syria says smiling slightly but passes out from exhaustion.

Alicia lays her on the ground taking her dragon stone and wraps it around her hand. Teeth sharp and jagged push through her gums as wings tear through her back, and her eyes fill with light like fire. She pulls out the claymore strapped to her back, and with a look of determination she takes off towards the sky.

Like an arrow she tears through the sky and pierces the dragon with her enchanted blade. Fire engulfs the dragon and it roars out in pain, it looks into her determined gaze and hits her with its long black tail. She tries not to panic as her wings stop beating and she falls towards the ground. She calls out to her horse and it gallops in her direction, she shifts her weight to try and land on her horse.

She lands on it awkwardly falling off of its back. She tries to get back up but she can't fell her spine the dragon dives toward her and she tries to let out a scream. She realizes she wasn't breathing and gasps for air while reaching for her sword. The dragon drew closer fire welling up in its throat ready to put her to death, and as she closes her eyes not wanting to see what happens next a bright light flashes through the air striking the dragon in the side, slamming it against the mountain side.

It was a mage...He runs towards the dragon beating it with bolts of light. The dragon finally dies and its stone falls to the earth glistening in the sunlight. He grabs the stone and runs towards her, she attempts to smile in thanks but the world fade's as a stone is placed in her hand and as her breath grows shallow she can feel herself being lifted.

Wow, cool story, but it was really super-duper fast-paced. You start throwing things in there very suddenly, and it started making my head spin. Some of your descriptions are really great, but others feel more like you're telling instead of showing. I think if you read through this again and bulked it up- explaining more of the things that happen and why -I think it could turn into a really great story! :)
