In The DarkA Poem by WillaDanversTurn on those lights and reach out to those you love, don't sit in that darkness, alone. When
they run on cursed autopilot, Leave
you sitting out in the dark, Wondering
why you made the mistake, Of
walking down this particular path, Days go
by, stumbling slowly along, Asking questions
in the silence, Preparing
for the day I must, Change
the path these feet do walk, Life isn’t
all roses and sunshine, Sometimes
it’s sitting the dark alone, You see
the things you close your eyes to, Pushing
you towards a truth you don’t want, Closing
the door to your aching heart, Day by
day, the wind gets colder, Standing
tall against the wind with strength, Pushing
away those who forget you exist, Not a
doll to be taken advantage of, Taking
control of her own damn life, Cursing
the day she chose that mistake, Walking down
the path to pain and tears, Standing
tall in her own strength, Loving
the skin, she chooses to wear today, No
longer needing the one who sleeps, Leaving
you sitting out in the dark, alone. © 2020 WillaDanvers |
