Old PatternsA Poem by WillaDanversThe harder things get for me, the more I tend to write about them.Trying to reason
with her demons, Tears
slipping down her wet cheeks, Greeting
her trembling chin, hello, Disappointment
taking residence in her heart, Old
patterns slipping back into their lives, Something
she knew would always be, Slapping
her cold in the face, A cold
blanket wrapping around her shoulders, Looking for
attention in other places, Aware of
the slippery slope she falls, Needing to
find a real answer to problems, She thought
she could forever outrun, Tears
flying down to her broken heart, Squeezing
all hope from a shattered heart, Trying to
reason with her protruding demons, Hate
building for the power that you have, Actions
taken without thinking about her, Leaving her
with broken promises, Covering
her fear with a shaky grin, Fear
wrapping around her cold shoulders tight, Disappointment
taking residence in her heart, Old
patterns slipping back into their lives, Sitting on
that back shelf waiting for the light, Waiting for
the love to one day come her way. © 2020 WillaDanvers |
