Stay Strong BrotherA Poem by WillaDanversSomeone I know, and love, was caught in an accident late yesterday afternoon. I was terrified because we didn't have much news, but today we received good news.Caught between metal and pain, Blood seeping into rainy mood, Cries carried away by soft winds, Mingling with the wails of emergency,
Trapped under crushed metal and pain, Can you hear us sir? Holding tight memories in hand, Are you okay sir?
Bones sticking through flesh, Red tears oozing from the wound, Sliding down to greet the tarmac, Leaving scars of your accident,
They’re going to get you out soon, Can you hear us sir? We just need to get this roof gone, Are you okay sir?
Unsure of internal injuries, Nothing to do but hope for the best, I love you, but I’m so far away, Stay strong brother, stay strong,
Your family is on their way, Hold tight sir, hold tight, Slipping under the radar, Who needs to be conscious anyway?
There’s a cold chill today, Infused into those who love you, Waiting to hear the news, Good or bad, anything,
Our cries muddled into shock, Nothing to do but hope for the best, Waiting to hear the news, we pray, Stay strong brother, stay strong. © 2018 WillaDanvers |
