My AddictionA Poem by WillaDanversWe each have our addictions, some fatal, some harmless, some we could learn to live without.A beautiful concoction of special occasion, Waking up the last sleeping brain cells, Jolting the buds in my mouth, a bittersweet taste, Spreading warmth through my entire being,
Oft burning the eager tongue, Scalding the tops of buds, But never learning from simple mistake, Earnestly awaiting the smooth morning,
Unsweetened, allowing the true flavour, Burning through the water and milk, Dancing through my nervous system, Keeping me on the tips of my toes,
A dangerous slope, this warm heaven, Needing to wake me up at each dawn, Keep me focused on the task ahead, Attending to my need for sweet velvet smooth,
Cooling down, no longer a risk of flavour, Gracefully exploding with taste and life, Undertones of the rich bean, touched with white, No need for added sweet for the flavour speak of own,
We each prefer our own, a different twist, All containing the same heat, touch of bitter, Dancing a different tune amongst mouths, Soothing my addiction, for the time being,
A beautiful concoction of special occasion, Earnestly awaiting the smooth awakening, Dancing through my nervous system, Attending to my need for sweet velvet smooth.
