My Brave Soldier

My Brave Soldier

A Poem by WillaDanvers
"

Inspired by the beautiful song 'Soldier' by Shania Twain

"

Cold arms waiting by the window,

Tear stained face hiding from view,

Heart waiting for your face to return,

Knowledge of you never to return,

I’ll wait for you my dear, forever,

Her heart crumpled in his left pocket,

A smile reserved for him only,

Waiting to return, to be so bright,

Whispers in the shadow, they all know,

A broken heart, she cannot stop crying,

He left and loved, he is our hero,

Fighting for everything but her heart,

On the front, so brave and true,

Suffering silently, wanting to scream,

Heart breaking and pleading for just one more,

One more time to kiss her goodbye,

One in the window of a broken home,

Standing waiting, loving in pain,

One standing in the front of a broken country,

Pleading for the safety of her heart,

Standing alone, tears staining his face,

Warmth leaving his body, with a broken soul,

Heart slowing, wishing to see her again,

Knowledge of him, never again to return.

this is sad. Maybe it is just me because i always feel war is the very demon that chase our world, break homes, hearts, and futures. I never believe there is heroism in war. Honor in death? I might sound coward, but remember what God says, "A live dog is better than a dead lion".

Why rob lives in name of honor? who can kill the War demon and bring eternal peace in earth. What causes wars? Oh dear, Who can be as brave as a solider of our hearts, homes, and future?

"....Fighting for everything but her heart," Melted me and made me reflect on the War tendencies. Where does this vile originate from? this "killing" in name of war? There are no wars, Just suicidal missions to fence our countries, pride, and nothing compare to the high value of lives taken. This poem has evoke too much emotions i can not bare.

A very sad poem my friend. I left for war zones. Four times in my Army career. I volunteered. Today I know. I made many people sad. War can be a one way journey. Your words. Powerful, honest and realistic. Thank you Willa for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Soldiers, they are the the ones who don't care about their lives but the nation. Nicely penned, Willa!
