Hazel EyesA Poem by WillaDanversI can't even begin to imagine the pain this family is going through, and I won't pretend I canThe hazel eyes of a broken dreamer, Wet with the tears of desperation, The crumbling heart of a mourning soul, Pleading for the peace in the name of the lord,
Cold hands clutching what is no more, Stuck in the memory of those two words, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Running a mile a minute in her broken mind,
The memory of her golden-haired girl, Lingering in sweet, a perfect melody, Haunted by the dark and dreary knowledge, That her daughter will ne’er return,
The blue eyes that will never again see, The mind of a stubborn little angel, The heart of a sweet and innocent child, The mistake of a second, taken forever more,
So close to the familiarity of home, Marking the simple life with grief, Taking peace from their hearts, And Hannah from their lives,
Bystanders gossiping, and weeping, Not truly knowing the pain of losing, A child so young and innocent, By the corner of their own home,
A tragedy written into newspapers, A story shown on the screens of TV’s, Broadcasting a singular mistake, Stripping all peace that could never lie,
The hazel eyes of a broken dreamer, A mother never again to see her angel, Burying a little girl, 7 years young, Pleading for the peace in the name of the lord. © 2017 WillaDanversAuthor's Note
