Just This OnceA Poem by WillaDanversJust This Once
An offering we cannot take, Laid before us on table spread, Tempting broken spirit made, Before shattering before trembling eye,
Accustomed to dark and gloomy world, Little offerings do seem to bright, Unrealistic and not of truth, They are cast aside, with the hidden lies,
Believed to be just another trick, You cast aside the words I do give, My heart is only honest, And my offering, holds no darkness,
I see the pain you heart doth hold, Hiding beneath that splendid smile, Your eyes do falter at this move, For this weight doth hold them down,
Never is an eye dry, Heart never without cursed scar, Mind tumbling, overthinking, Never do you stop to rest,
Hold my hand and once be still, Relax your heart and take deep breath, Don’t let them take control, Just be you, just this once,
Take those weights from your ankles, Remove the bindings from your wrists, Shed the blindfold covering trembling eye, Open lungs to blessed air, and breathe,
An offering you cannot refuse, Clinging to your very being, Opening your weary eyes to truth, This world is not so cold, to the touch,
The warmth lies beneath the surface, A little digging is all it takes, No longer shy away my dear, Just be still, just this once.
