In Her MemoryA Poem by WillaDanversSomeone I knew passed away, We were not close but it still stops you in your tracks for some while. I had to write down what was in my brain otherwise I was going to implode. She was only 18 years’ young, Barely a chance had she lived, Already the song of angels, Was pulling her home to rest,
As the rest of us laugh laughed without bounds, She was fighting a war in silence, As the rest of us lived freely, She fought to have just another breath,
Her world consists of a singular laugh Amongst the normality of pain, She was robbed of her rose-tinted glasses, But a complaint ne’er left her soft lips,
Bravely she battled this war, And we continued to blindly wander, Our eyes closed to the truths of this world, Hearts clinging to the innocence of child,
Her energy slipping by the day, Ours unchanging, Her grip on this world growing smaller, Ours still the same,
Broken hearted promises, Brave tears holding back, Innocence destroyed and A family never the same,
Unable to maintain a smile, Her hold on this world ripped from, Silent fears forever hidden behind, The cold lips of who she was,
Her own body her worst enemy, Destroying her, cell by cell, Her soul sent above with barely a scrape, The song of angels pulling her from our grasp,
Together we shall mourn the loss, And wish her soul a safe travel, Uncertainty ringing through the air, For we are not sure when to fully let go,
Her memory lingering in our hearts, She will ne’er be forgotten, But our lives must keep on moving, Even though she has reached the end of her own. © 2017 WillaDanversReviews
