Guilt

Guilt

A Poem by WillaDanvers

Guilt

As blue as the night of your eyes,

Blooming red like the roses you hate,

The silence terrifyingly devastating,

Your pleas lingering in the air,

Empty hearts hanging around lost,

This mistake breaking hearts forever seen,

Your memories tarnished,

And guilt forever bound to haunt you,

Birds silent, blaming you,

Cries echoing out around the bay,

No one could move a muscle,

Her blood red hands caressing the dirt,

It should have been you,

Lying there, grasping at straws,

Looking for a way to breathe,

Realising the dark fate awaiting,

But you messed up,

You failed the one thing,

The one thing you needed to succeed at,

And this is the result,

One last gasp of life taken in,

Only the stale air of death slipping out,

Eyes clouded, staring up,

Pain forever frozen in the lake of blue,

It didn’t take long,

From the incident to the silence,

It felt like a year,

But barely was a minute,

Her blood staining your hands,

Your guilt written all over the scene,

Their blame cast through hateful stares,

Her death lingering in the air,

The silence terrifyingly devastating,

Birds silent, blame cast upon you,

You failed the love of your life,

And guilt forever bound to haunt you.
