Little Toy SoldierA Poem by WillaDanversRamblings of a sane mindLittle Toy Soldier
A little toy soldier, Frozen in place upon the step, Sad eyes seemingly asking for help, Masking the reality of its position,
Many stoop down to look at the little man, Only to never again see the light of day, For they look not with open mind, But the closed mind of a naïve heart,
Standing directly behind the little toy soldier, Stands the thing of nightmares, Waiting for you to reach out an open palm, Within the distance of its prying mind,
Ne’er in your hollow thoughts, Did you think you would come across, Something so vile and ghastly, Showing your innermost fears,
Displayed in flashing fear, Your heart caving in on self, A nervous breakdown hiding in your lungs, There is no way to survive the end of all you know,
He smiles at you with glee, A cruel and crooked smile, He found another, and another, No wonder the boy stares with sadness,
You are a victim of the little toy soldier, A stranger with an empty but kind heart, Willing to help a piece of junk, Finding self-trapped within the horrors of mind,
Screams wrack your body endlessly, That cruel and crooked smile all you can see, Finding joy in the state of your fear, Gleefully haunting your thoughts,
Screams over take everything, Darkness is all that is left, Unknown in every direction, Stale air enveloping you’re very being,
Ripping your comfort from underneath you, Deleting any sense of safety, you had, Wrapping you in a state of paranoia, Constantly falling through the empty dark. © 2017 WillaDanvers |
