Simple Soldier

Simple Soldier

Simple Soldier

In a world of deception,

We come to crave,

Jilted love and affection,

Amongst the pain of emptiness,

We cry out looking for help,

Our tears staining our hearts,

Hands curling into ugly shapes,

Eyes turning cold to others,

A little speck of hope,

Lies there crushed under the dark,

Waiting for a little moment,

To bloom into a beautiful red,

Chains wrap around our wrists,

Locking us into this misguided shape,

Our imaginations slowly decreasing,

Accepting what has come to be,

Occasionally we allow ourselves peace,

Let our minds wander above,

Into an idyllic world,

That lies just beneath our nose,

Cast aside those chains,

Break out of that mould,

Open your eyes and breathe,

Don’t settle for what you know,

Let your hope bloom wide,

Delete that depressing darkness,

That you cling to,

Break free and forget the past,

Don’t be another simple soldier,

Stop following the bloodstained rules,

You don’t have to suffer the same fate,

Just let go of it all,

In a world of deception,

There is few that live,

We cry out looking for help,

Peering out from the bleak darkness,

You can save us all,

If you just open your mind,

Break the chains that hold you so,

Sing from the blooming of serenity,

Don’t settle for the occasional,

Don’t suffer the same cruel fate as we,

Don’t be just another simple soldier,

Be what we failed to be,

Strive for love and happiness,

Strive for a future so bright,

Don’t look back at the failed,

Set an example and be free.

Very inspirational. ..i like the comparison with the soldier.... it could be a song... i could hear a faint soldiers drumbeat in the background!
