Who Am I?A Poem by WillaDanversA stranger amidst the world of unknown, A helpless lamb in need of guidance, Comforter to those in need, Only to struggle by self in dark,
A writer of many dark things, Whisperer of things untold, Creator of silent photos, With a mind that doesn’t belong,
Stuck with a mind of excruciating doubt, A body that doesn’t want to induce health, I am what I don’t want to be, A creature of habit, afraid of change,
Nothing more than a shell, Obedient to the demands of society, I no longer have choice over my actions, But maybe that choice was never mine,
A fitting garment for an anxious soul, Tossed around from one emotion to the next, Unable to rest, For my mind is racing,
Finding solitude and calm in poetry, Finding melodies where they aren’t, Creating songs from dusty letters, Allowing the anxious to release from soul,
Having found an escape, A feeling of knowledge has settled, Maybe this is who I am, A poet, a creator, behind the scenes,
But even after all that, At the dawning of each dusk, I find myself asking, Who Am I? © 2016 WillaDanvers |
