Feelings

Feelings

A Poem by WillaDanvers
"

Scrawlings of thoughts

"

To protect me is their goal,

From being like those in his past,

Leaving me again alone,

To be hidden under others wishes,

Feelings found to be alike,

Explorers, we wish to be,

Held back by beliefs of others,

So we must hold all inside again,

Putting what the other needs first,

Hiding what self feels inside,

Smiling in view of others,

Comforting aching heart behind doors,

Smile at thought of you,

Frown at thought of you,

Mixed reactions,

Want to move on,

Lingering thoughts of what could be,

Taunting mind of future,

Breaking heart at memory of words,

To be protected is their goal,

It can be no more than a dream,

As that is what our pasts prove,

All that we can be worth,

Is not something for future,

So, smile at thought of you I will,

And again, frown at same thought,

Knowing that we cannot be,

For our past tell them what we refuse to hear.
