Potter and ClayA Poem by WillaDanversI write to release the demons from my mind, I write to stop the cracks forming in my mask, I write because that is who I am, The writer, who creates things from words,
I take the demons from my minds, And twist them into words and phrases, Until they fit onto the paper, Until they are made into the thing I desire,
I grasp these thoughts and hold on for dear life, Smiling all the while, to prevent the cracks, Perfecting this mask of mine, Using the demonic clay as my art,
Dreams make us who we are, Dreams define the future we may or may not have, My dreams forced me to project my fears into words, Creating a poet out of me,
I didn’t choose to be a writer, I didn’t choose to struggle, or to create a mask, But I did choose to release my demons, Onto paper, creating art for others to enjoy,
I write to release the pressure, I write to stop the cracks forming in my mask, I am the potter, And the demons are my clay.
