Societal DemonsA Poem by WillaDanversTemptation is the death of free will, Choice deprived by choice made, Looking into the eyes of apparent love, Falling into a self-bound cage, Allurement a figure of imagination, Deprivation a signature of human nature, Twirling choices falling into places, Chosen by outstretched hand, Emotion blamed for end all consequences, Responsibility cast aside like loose change, Regret and Pride go hand in hand, Striding towards the destruction of your mind, Hearts pounding in fear, Quivering in the darkest of light, Mind racing at full speed, Within the constrictions of your mind, Love no longer of importance, Instead you head towards the edge of life, Thinking there will be a bridge to carry you to happiness, But all there is, is emptiness, Cliff side fear, anger at self, The dark shadows waiting for you to leap, Your thoughts empty, dreams drowned at each dawn, Your existence nothing but pitiful, Eyes darting, searching for something to blame, Mirrors casting back reflections of self, Showing the real destroyer of self will, Inserting doubt into frazzled mind, Cementing the need for perfection, Idealizing the need for attention, Demolishing any shred of individualism, Creating a typical for all to be, Society is the poison that we all welcome, How can you destroy something that is forever alive, As society is but human nature, Proving we are but our own demons.
