Unconditional LoveA Poem by WillaDanversUnconditional Love They say love is
unconditional, That true love can
last forever, But there is more
than one kind of true love, Which one are they
referring to? I stood there
tonight, Contemplating the thought,
I could have, Picking apart the
love you chose to show me, Showing me that my
dreams are not that important, The lights were my
company, Your love was not,
I was dismissed
without a second thought, And you went about
your life as usual, I wanted to show
you a part of me, But you had
something else to do, So I stand here
tonight, Contemplating the
idea of love, They say love is unconditional,
But I’m not sure
that is quite right, As what I just
experienced, Was the wrong time
for love, You are the idol
in my life, The mother in
which I aim to not be, You took one look
at what I hold so close, And found
something better to do, You once told me
to be strong, To not let others,
get to me, But how can this
action be done, When you are the
one dismissing me so easily, I know this is but
my anxiety, Putting these
awful thoughts into action, But the one sane
thing you have shown me, Is that love is
anything but unconditional, I chose the wrong
year to show you me, You chose to
dismiss my work, I chose to love
you, to want to prove, That I am more
than just another person living with anxiety, But here I stand
tonight, tears in hand, Watching you turn
your back, And realizing the
choice you made, With unblinking
eye, and closed mind, You set your love
with condition, You love when the
time is right, Not when I need
it, or ask for it, But when you are
available to care, Your love is
conditional, For when the time
is right for you, And so I stand
here, alone again, Hoping my daughter
won’t have to feel this way, I am beating this disease,
And deciding to
rid my love of condition, You are letting
your disease rule, And set the conditions
to your love, They say love is
unconditional, But they don’t
know you, For you set your
love with condition, And found something
more important. © 2016 WillaDanversFeatured Review
