Time of Death

Time of Death

A Poem by WillaDanvers

I didn’t realize that today would be the last,

Our very last, to be together,

I didn’t realize that today would be your last,

Our very last, to love each other,

But it was the last, it was,

There would be no more for us,

Not together, not anymore,

That was the decision you made,

Together we love, together we part,

That was the promise we made,

Together we love….

Together we part…

The air was cold, stale, wrong,

I could feel it the second I opened my eyes,

I could feel the emptiness in my heart,

And it was the decision you made,

I could feel the love you held, seep away,

The promises we made, the laughs we shared,

It all went away because of your decision,

The decision you made without me,

I love you and yet,

You didn’t love me that much,

You left me to scoop up the pieces,

Of my life without you,

The moment you came into view,

The life I knew didn’t exist,

The life we had together,

Was but a dream far from reach,

Your eyes stared into a distance,

A distance I couldn’t see,

Your ruby red pain slid, so gracefully,

From the wound you had made,

With broken lungs, and iron clad heart,

I stared at you in disbelief,

This wasn’t you, it wasn’t something I knew,

Surely… this is but a nightmare,

But lungs kick started, heart stripped free,

Eyes morphed to waterfall,

It hit me ton by ton,

This was but my painful reality

This was the decision you had made,

To rip my heart in two,

To break the love, we had,

To destroy the world, I knew,

It still lay in your hand,

The weapon of your choice,

Lay within my reach,

Taunting my broken heart,

We could be together again my love,

Do you want to see me again?

We could forever be happy,

Like I thought we were before,

This time I will try to understand you,

To see the pain, you hid so well,

Once dead already, you can’t break me twice,

Together we love, together we part,

With one last kiss I swear,

I am right behind you once more,

A cold and shaken sigh,

A weary, tear-filled kiss,

My last words to you,

This is my promise to you,

I will forever love you, till the end,

My promise was not so true,

Don’t doubt me again,

For the next words they say, will be our truth,

After painful attempts, only this remains,

Time of Death.
