Out Of My League

Out Of My League

A Poem by WillaDanvers

They tell me that I should stop,

Stop putting everyone on a pedestal,

Stop pushing myself so low that,

Everyone is out of my league,

I can't help it, I simply can't,

I do what I believe,

I follow my brain,

And ignore my heart,

I see you pass my view,

I see you smile and laugh,

I watch as you joke around,

I frown and look away,

You are not something I can have,

You are not an object one can own,

You are your own self,

And I must leave you alone,

You don't come around often,

Which does help a little,

But you don't come around often,

And sometimes I wish you would,

When I consider the alternative,

I want to sit down and cry,

When I look at the possibilities,

My heart wants to dance with joy,

But then I remember my downfall,

You are up there on that pedestal,

And I am down here in the dirt,

You are out of my league.

The thought of your poem is good. But you have to find words that are good to the ears. For example, the word 'alternative' does not have a poetic sound to it. Personally, i prefer using one to two syllabic words. Also, instead of stating how you felt, show how you felt instead. It's good to use metaphors in poetry, like comparing the pain of love unreachable by saying 'you can't reach the stars you so want to behold' or something. I hope my review helps. It would be awesome to hear back from you.
