Come Back MummyA Poem by WillaDanversCan I hold your hand mummy? Can I caress your cheek like daddy used to? Can I give you a kiss because I forgot last night? Can I? Can you squeeze my hand tight? Can you lean in to the touch of my hand upon your cheek? Can you smooth the hair on my head? Can you? I don't understand this mummy, I need you to wake up and explain to me, You were here last night, And now you are not, How is that possible? You smiled at me, Told me you loved me, Reminded me of the warmth of love, But then you took that away again, Why would you do that? Why would you be the reason for me tears? Why would you be the reason for my pain? Sit up mummy, talk to me, Stop staring at the ceiling, I don't like the song your singing, Can you please talk to me? If I hold my breath, will you wake? If I cry, will you hold me again? If I scream, will you tell me that I am a big girl now, That 5-year olds don't need to scream like that, What if I ask? If I ask, will you open your eyes again? Please mummy, I need you, I need you to wake up and tell me you love me one last time, I Love You Mummy, I'm sorry I forgot to give you that last kiss, I'm sorry I wasn't here to hold your hand, I'm sorry and I love you. © 2016 WillaDanversReviews
