Not Your Hero, Only Yours

Not Your Hero, Only Yours

A Poem by Will.Adams
"

A poem about a persons place in a precious relationship, and their devotion to it.

"
It's the day you came that the old life was cast away
Shed is the face of a bitter mind and a heart led astray
Though I'll never promise that my aim is true
These eyes of mine, they're set solely on you
With my mind I'll weave these fragile words
The words that I fear to say
And with these hands I'll hold you tight
For as long as you can bear to stay
The kind musings and company is far from al I'll do
If need be, I'll spill the blood from me as penance paid to you
Though I lack the wings to ever sail the skies
To the heavens these words of love of mine are sure to reach
As I learn by your side I may teach, and in teaching I may learn
Perhaps one day I'll live to save your life
But I have already had the honor of giving you mine
Perhaps I'll never live to be the hero that I always wanted to be
But in my final rest I will be content, knowing that for you I gave the best of me
