Saturbia

Saturbia

A Poem by Will.Adams
"

A vaguely narrative poem telling the story of returning to a broken home and being faced with the ghosts of the past.

"
You came with the dark that fell on that familiar street
A harbinger on the heels of hardship,
Come to stand at a distance and watch the specters made of shimmering sleet
Reflections from the previous life,
Set alight by old passions and the flare of the moon
Spirits spurred by your startling presence,
Mimicking the screams that still scratch around in the crevices of your mind
Steering you into the halls you tried so hard to severe
You’re still stepping through the splinters from your headboard,
Ceiling still cracked and stagnant water strolling from the sink
The smell of sulfur has you stupefied,
The shattering of glass standing your hairs on their ends
For so long you’ve striven to stray
No matter the time that’s passed,
The phantom pain of Saturbia is here to stay
There may be life of your own on the road ahead
But it was here you were born
It is here your heart will be until you’re dead
