I Forgot To Remember To ForgetA Poem by Will.AdamsA poem particularly applicable to young people, concerning an inexplicable connection to something so absent-mindedly detached from you.
In the streets, a passing face
A blur, leaving a phantasmal trail for my mind to trace I feel your warmth and smell you on my skin In that moment I feel your love for the first time, again In the glint of your eyes a pantomime plays A vibrant memory of future day’s Your silhouette before the shimmer of an obsidian sea A stark shadow to soothe and consume me Before the dark, our lives fell into place Yet I steadily lost that vague memory of your face Reality comes yet again, my body forced to twist around the coming bend By my own hand, the fantasy drifts away I saw our children and could feel the warmth of a home of our water But it is a dream I couldn't allow to stay For I could not even remember your name. © 2014 Will.Adams |
