'Why do You'A Poem by Will NeillA short poem about the hatred some people have for their fellow man, A concept I fail to understand. If we only channeled our energy for good instead of bad think what a better world this would be.‘’ Why do you’’
Why do you want to kill me? Before you know what I might be I could be the one who brings world peace Or helps the blind to see I may be the person who finds a cancer cure Do you still want to kill me? How can you be sure? I might just discover, a new and endless fuel That would help to warm your home How could you be that cruel? To end a life you never knew Because you have hatred in your heart For the freedom and democracy that makes us worlds apart Your god is my god and we all belong to him To kill me in his name is just a mortal sin It’s written in the holy books be it Bible or Qu'ran That god preached and asked us to love our fellow man So why do you want to kill me? When you don’t know who I am I pity your blind ignorance that drives you in this way And hope and wish that you will see that death is not the way To quell your need for destruction of what you do not understand I think that it’s you who fears me more and the things for what I stand For peace and love and friendship and tolerance to all So why do you want to hurt me When you don’t know me at all
