First Day; HomeroomA Chapter by JaceyAugust 30- I'm standing in front of the school. Emily was standing next to me. With my eyes wide with excitement flairing we stare at the school. 'This is our last year here,' Was all I could think of.
"Well we best head in," Emily chimes in out of no where. Her voice is as beautiful as a bell. I moved my eyes to look at her. She was as alluring as ever. Her dark brown hair mixed with blond streaks from being in the sun was pulled up in a high pony tail. She refused to keep it down.
I was startled by her voice that it took me a moment to realise what she said. When I came back from my fantasy land she was already a few paces ahead of me. "Hey! Wait up!" I yell running towards her. Her stride is as fast as my run.
Finally catching up to her we were at the door. On a flyer posted with a few younger kids in front of it reading, it read "Fifth-Auditorium up stairs Sixth-Gym down stairs Seventh-Cafetearia" Realising where we had to go we went to the cafetearia to where we were meant to meet up.
The lunch room tables were in there usual places, but had numbers on them. The guidance councler, obviously a baby bump, was helping students find what room they were in. I was able to figure out where we were to go. Emily was in a different homeroom than me so we parted ways. Looking across at all of the table, few people we in the room. 'Of course I'm too early. Damnit.'
Walking through the isle's trying to find the paper that read '313' I come across someone else who happened to be early. Nicolas. He has been my love sick crush for so long! Imeadiatly my heart began racing as I pass by him.
Sooner than I would have wanted I found my room. There was only three kids sitting down. Two boys one girl. Out of the three I only recognised one of them. The girl. I did not officially know her but I knew we weren't going to be friends.
Sitting away from my three peers I sat down, slouching. Suddenly I heard a crowd of people entering the room. Looking up excitedly I hope for one of my friends to enter. Looking at each face quickly, lasting less than a second with each face, I scan through about thiry to fourty kids. None of which were my friends. Slouching back over a few kids come and sit at my table. Out of the corner of my eye I looked at each face. I did not know a single one of them. 'How could it that I've gone to this towns school all my life and I don't know any of these people?!" I scream in my head.
Closing my eyes for just a moment more kids enter. I perk up to see one of my close friends entering. "Samantha!!" I yell over the roar of other kids yelling to their friends.
Samantha. She wasn't one of the most beautiful people on earth but she was still unique. She was short, under five feet. Four foot eleven to be exact. She had on faded black clothes with jeans rolled up to make caprees. A brand new messanger bag was slung across her chest.
Finally, after she stands in the same spot for five minutes, she see's me. Running over to me in her penguin of a run she sits beside me. We sit there for a few moments when I finally break the silence. "So how was your summer?"
Answering me shocked to my question she replys; "Jacey, I saw you yesterday. I saw you a week ago. I saw you all through the summer! So, do I really need to answer that?"
"I-I guess not," I answered feeling ashamed. Looking up a few more people come to our table. I recognise one of them, Emily. We used to do Girl Scouts together but she quit years ago, and now we seemed to be not so friendly. She wore glasses and had shoulder length blond hair. She, too, was short but about two inches taller than Samantha
Samantha and Emily passed weary glances to eachother. 'I guess they don't really like eachother eithor,' was all I could think.
Looking at the others entering I finally jump up into excitement. I found who I was looking for. Sara. She was one of my closest, most awesome friends. She was really thin, tall, and had long, dark brown hair. I wave more action filled than I did with Samantha. This time I made a seen and everyone noticed. Suddenly, before I could react, teachers began to file in. Sara hadn't even made it to the table yet.
Samantha not realising what I was doing, sat me back down in my seat. "Want a peice of gum?"
"Uhm, sure," I say half listening. When I hear the wrinkling of the package I realise what she said. "WAIT!" I practically yelled. At this point almost all of the homerooms were gone, our teacher still hadn't come yet. Sara came and sat next to me.
Samantha getting the gum out hands it to me. "I don't want it any more." I tell her then turn to Sara.
"Well its already out of the package you have to eat it."
Looking around, I grab it and stuff it in my mouth. "Happy?" She puts on her silly little grin. 'I'm spitting this out as soon as possible.'
I turn to Sara, when I hear my name being called. Turning around quickly, I see that the teacher was taking roll call. She calls my name again. Everyone seemed to be getting irritated because they were all glaring at me, even the ones I didn't know. "Uh...uh, here!" The teacher, about to mark me absent turns around and gives me a glare. Then she moved on.
'Uh, oh. First impression. Failure,' was all I could think at that moment.
Finally we left the cafetearia. I could feel the tension rising because of my idiotic slowing of my brain. Walking along side Sara and Samantha down the hallway I was really out of it.
"GAH!?!" I yelled and everyone turns to me. My new homeroom teacher, who I guess has the same first name as me, gives me a look. A look that appears to be saying 'I'm not going to deal with your s**t.' I shuddered at the thought. Turning to Samantha, "Why does everyone hate me?"
Instead of Samantha answering, "No one hates you. You just...are yourself!" Sara says. Looking at her and then back at Samantha, I spin around in a circle.
'Where's Samantha?' I thought to myself with a puzzled expresion on my face.
"She went to see Serena," Sara replied without me saying a single word. I suddenly spazz out.
'Sh-she just read my mind!'
Looking across the hall, I'm stuck at the doorway of my homeroom. Sara was right. Samantha did go to see Serena.
Serena. She, too, is one of my friends. She has wavy, almost black, hair. She has chubby cheeks and can be very random. But, most of my friends are random!
Turning back to Sara, I see that she is across the room. As I walk over to her my teacher is calling my name once again. I turn to see what she wants. She is telling me to line up. 'Line up? What the hell? Where are we going?' As I'm thinking my class is getting impatient again. Suddenly Sara is pushing me to the front of the room.
Mrs. Same-name-as-me is telling me to go over to the seat in the back corner. 'YES!! The back! Even better! A CORNER!' As I walk over to the seat to sit down I look at the chairs. All of the chairs and desks are normal in the classroom. Except for one. Mine. The stupid desk and chair were connected.
"WHAT!?" I yelled. This time everyone ignored me. 'Why? I thought they got rid of all of these type of desks! WHY ME!?' Reluctantly, I sit in it. 'Goodness. I wish I had a better desk damnit!' At that moment, I slam my head on the desk hoping it was a dream. Instead of waking up, the gum Samantha gave me flung into the back of my throat. Next thing I know the gum is on the roof of my mouth.
I look to my right. There she is. Emily. Staring at her book she's been reading since she got to school. I look in front of her. There's Sara. I'm happy I sit close to her. Then behind Emily is Samantha. 'When did she get back?' Sitting in my desk-chair-mutation, with my head lying down, I start to think. Back into my fantasy land.
I get woken up my the grumbling of my stomach. I start to pay attention to what my teacher is saying. "...rules must be followed...no gum chewing...Jacey?" Zoning in and out of reality and my fantasy land I finally realise my teacher is talking to me.
"Yes Mrs. Bircallo?" I answer suddenly.
"Your schedual."
Taking it from her hands she continues to pass them out. Looking at each of my classes carefully, all I had to know was "Sara...Samantha...do we have any classes together?" I ask without looking up.
Samantha answers. "I don't know!"
"Could I see your schedual?"
"SURE!" She says happily enough.
I stare at her. 'Why isn't she handing over the schedual?' I glance at her, she doesn't have a paper in her hands. "DON'T TELL ME YOU LOST IT ALREADY!"
"I have it," Emily says. I stared at her wide eyed. "Aww! We have a class together!" Samantha begins to snicker. "Lemme see yours." I just hand it to her, still in awe of her talking. Her eyes bug out. "We have," she begins to stutter, "three classes together!" I begin to, not giggle, but full on laghter.
"Let me see my schedual. Sara can I see your's?" Sara hands hers over. I suddenly get really disapointed. "We only have two classes together. One of which, what the hell is Preforming Arts?!" The bell suddenly rings. I hand back her schedual. "I guess we'll find out now."
"I HAVE IT, TOO!" Samantha chimes in out of no where.
"YAY!" We all say as we head for our doom, to find out what this new class is... © 2008 JaceyReviews
