What Should I Do?

What Should I Do?

A Poem by Time's The Bond

Written: 5-3-12

By: Emily Lui

I cannot think

When you’re gone

My heart beats the only thing

That keeps me alive

Is the hope I might meet you again

Tears run down my face

Slowly the pain departs from me

Us so distinct

Always on the brink of falling away

When this bridge broke

My world turned dark

It, it is so sharp

Without you

What should I do?

I’m dying as my heart breaks

Our bond was never strong

You’re smart but not sharp

So you probably never knew

What was ingrained in my heart

Do you not realize?

How you brutalized my heart

The pain I endure behind this smile

Each day it’s harder to keep

I might never see you

But I keep my eyes open

For your ignited light

Always

I don’t know what to do

Tell me please

I want to give up but my heart won’t let me

Appease me if you can

My lips shiver

As I cry

My eyes painfully dry.

My heart throbs

As I cry

I've never told anyone

But I don’t know

How long this shield will hold.

I like the verbal effect of the poem. It flows really well when spoken aloud. I think it cries out from a inner pool of pain from the past and is looking for salvation. Yet, when thinking about the situation that these words describe, I don't think the answers will come from an outside source. My opinion is that while it's good to vent about turbulent thoughts and emotions, one must find the calm path they must tread through seeking deep within themselves and finding their own truths. That's just my thoughts on it though. Others might disagree. =D
